August 17th is National Nonprofit Day, so we wanted to take the opportunity to highlight just a handful of the amazing nonprofit organizations we are proud to partner with, and what we do to support the missions of those organizations.
Due to the nature of infusion healthcare, Paragon is honored and humbled to reach so many people dealing with rare, complicated, or extremely difficult conditions. Each one of these foundations serves a subset of our patient family, and each one shares Paragon’s patient-centered focus and dedication to disease awareness, excellence of care and compassion.
The American Heart Association is one of the largest organizations we support. For several years, Paragon has participated in the Association's Dallas Heart Walk, one of the nation’s premier events raising awareness and funds for heart disease and stroke. Paragon and the Association launched a Blood Pressure Kiosk in the main public lobby of Dallas-Love Field airport, providing travelers the opportunity to check their blood pressure prior to boarding their flight. Keeping tabs on your blood pressure is a good idea anyway, but especially before a flight – cardiac issues in the air can become serious very quickly due to pressure changes and the need to ground a flight before emergency services can reach you.
The Arthritis Foundation is the nation’s largest nonprofit organization dedicated to the prevention and control of the various forms of arthritis, as well as advocating for and funding research into arthritis cures. Arthritis is the leading cause of disability in the U.S. The foundation also addresses conditions closely related to or that cause arthritis, such as ankylosing spondylitis, lupus, gout, diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis, Still’s disease, carpal tunnel syndrome, myositis, tendonitis and more.
Paragon has been proud to partner with the Arthritis Foundation in support of its Jingle Bell Run 5k in Texas each year, raising funds to support the foundation, its research efforts and awareness of the many arthritis-related conditions.
The National MS Society is one of the leading foundations raising awareness of multiple sclerosis and its effects, as well as advocating for public policy decisions to support MS patients and raising funds for research into MS treatments and possible cures. Multiple Sclerosis is a complicated and unpredictable disease of the central nervous system that, over time, disrupts the flow of information both within the brain and between the brain and the rest of the body.
Paragon is proud to partner with the National MS Society in their annual MS Walks that take place across the country. The walks raise awareness for the struggles of people dealing with MS, as well as helping to fund MS research.
The Midwest Hemophilia Association, headquartered in the Kansas City metro area, has been a leading voice in hemophilia education, promoting awareness and supporting hemophilia patients since 1990. Paragon joins the MHA in caring deeply for the bleeding disorder community and helping to improve patients’ overall quality of life.
In conjunction with MHA, Paragon is proud to sponsor and help provide family education events. MHA hosts a Family Education Weekend every year in Kansas City, meant to help families dealing with bleeding disorders connect and find community, to help educate hemophilia patients and their families on disease management and treatment, and more.
Save One Life is a unique foundation, but one with a mission that gets us here at Paragon very excited. Founded in 2000 by Laureen Kelley, the mother of a son with hemophilia, Save One Life looks outside the country’s borders and sponsors hemophilia treatment for people in developing countries. Kelley named the foundation after a proverb found in both the Talmud and the Qur’an, “He who saves one life, saves the world,” as quoted in the 1993 film Schindler’s List.
Paragon is proud to partner with Save One Life and support their mission to provide treatment for three people in developing countries each year. For that year, Save One Life offers direct financial assistance and access to treatment for those individuals. Hemophilia can significantly impact a person’s quality of life and can even be life-threatening if left untreated, so these sponsorships are literally lifesaving.

At the very heart of what we do at Paragon are our incredible team of infusion nurses. We are honored to celebrate them this year for National IV Nurses Day.
