Learn More About Hepatology

Hepatitis C is an infectious disease affecting primarily the liver caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV). The infection is often asymptomatic, but chronic infection can lead to damage and even cirrhosis, a permanent scarring of the liver. In some cases, those with cirrhosis will go on to develop liver failure, liver cancer, or life-threatening esophageal and gastric varices that can require significant medical intervention including hospitalization and liver transplant.

Who Does it Effect?

HCV affects about 3.2 million people in the U.S with the most common being genotype 1 HCV.

How Does it Spread?

Hepatitis is most commonly transmitted by exposure to infected blood.

What Are the Symptoms?

Many people with Hepatitis have no symptoms initially, but patients could notice: jaundice, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, nausea, and fatigue.

At Paragon Healthcare Specialty, we strive to help provide patients the opportunity to gain access to highly targeted therapies that have been proven to prevent progression and in most cases cure Hepatitis C. Our dedicated team of pharmacists, nurses, and technicians are uniquely qualified to assist patients with all aspects of their specialty medications including coordination with physicians and insurance providers, all while providing streamlined, comprehensive care to patients.
