Helping patients find comfortable and manageable ways to receive life-saving treatment is at the heart of what Paragon Healthcare does every day. Still, those treatments aren’t always meant to curb the effects of a condition but rather its aftereffects, like in Christa Jones’s case.
Christa and Bennett, her husband of 34 years and friend of 44 years, had their lives turned upside-down by her cancer diagnosis. Christa fought hard and overcame that struggle, only to meet another caused by the necessary removal of her large intestine. The procedure left her unable to digest food normally – that’s where Paragon Home Infusion was able to step in and provide Christa and Bennett with a solution that gave them hope in the form of Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN).
TPN is just one of the several services offered by the Nutrition Support Team. The team provides many different dietary support services to members of the Paragon family whose lives have been disrupted by gastrointestinal (GI) distress or any inability to eat and digest food. While that may sound daunting, and it can be, we take pride in helping patients like Christa live a fulfilling and independent life. Paragon’s dietitians, nurses and other caregivers make the adjustment as easy and comfortable as possible.
Today, thanks to Paragon and TPN, the Joneses are the same sweethearts they’ve always been. The road here hasn’t been easy, but the two still enjoy their freedom and hope for the future, driving around town together and looking for popsicles.
